Has Internet reduced the gap between social or anti-social elements?

There was a time when long distance communication was considered to be imaginative, sending a mail by post within your country took around months to reach, distance made us separated and so out thoughts. Imagine 200 years back chatting to your friend sitting in Australia from your home country (India) would have been said crazy.

It is, its not only social groups have reduced the distance, Internet has reduced the professional gaps also, with workers siting any where can do their work on internet removing their place dependency. With social communities like orkut, facebook people come and interact with each other many find their school buddy whom they thought they would never meet. People blog so that they can share their viewpoint with others.

No doubt that what is written is what we can say that internet is blessing to us. Wait is it? well we have just seen one face of the coin, the grass is always greener from the other side. No doubt internet has reduced the gap between social elements but also the same applies to anti-social elements, there are various spheres where this aptly applies. Lets take terrorism, web sites like google maps provide a clear overview of every nation, strategic location of the country, making it easier for them to plan their activity, mailing services like g-mail, yahoo can be used to mail documents within no time, VoIP can be used to make internet call without being traced.

Some people hack the internet accounts of users and do malpractices, Other misuse of internet is wide spread viewing of porn content over internet, spoiling the young fellows, although many country has blocked such site still the techie can tunnel through proxy. Well the most talked about anti social activity is the sex over video chat, user come online chat for a while an then have a web sex, getting themselves naked, with such use of internet I guess we are not using the term INTERNET to its meaning.

I still remember internet was first used by SUN to help to make their business better

Yes internet without any restrictions has this drawback. That's why our government imposes the checks on internet but the hypocrite western media calls it media censoring.

It's as simple. just ban the sites which are not in nation's interest.

This is only possible in your country. China is one of those countries where the government decides if you can breathe or not.

No, Chinese government doesn't decide whether someone can breath or not but it decides the quality of air that people are getting to breath. They are not allowing pollutants to enter the Chinese environment.

Not only internet, all forms of media are experiencing these problems.

Any amount of banning is not going to suppress the misuse because what will you do for e-mail exchanges etc ? Maybe information flow should be regularly monitored and anything suspicious or bad should be taken against.

Definitely there should be a check on the flow of information. We can't allow the media to print and publish whatever rubbish it wants in the name of freedom of expression.
