Is Education the key to remove terrorism?

For over decades the geeks have been shouting to empower education to eradicate terrorism, we all say that an educated person can differentiate well between god and evil, right and wrong, sounds good and realistic ! I thinks whosoever has such thought process has to read this piece of text.

A draft by Alan B. Krueger and Jitka Malecková Education, Poverty, and Terrorism: Is There a Causal Connection?

Better-off and better-educated people are more likely to support and participate in terrorist or militant acts than their less fortunate peers. In a December 2001 opinion survey of Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, for example, 86 percent of adults who had attended high school supported armed attacks against Israeli targets, compared with 72 percent of their illiterate peers. And outright opposition to such attacks was much higher in the ranks of the illiterate: 26 percent voiced opposition, compared with only 12 percent of better-educated Palestinians.

Many studies of those who actually commit terrorist attacks follow the same general pattern. Of 129 Lebanese Hezbollah militants who became Shahids (martyrs) between 1982 and 1994, only 28 percent came from impoverished families (while 33 percent of all Lebanese were living in poverty).

Thirty-three percent of the killers had been to high school, compared with only 23 percent of the general population. A study of 285 Palestinian terrorists who carried out suicide bomb attacks for other groups between 1987 and 2002 found that they were nearly twice as likely to have finished high school and attended college as other Palestinians. Two of the bombers were the sons of millionaires.

Most militant groups , is filled with “teachers, writers, entrepreneurs, engineers,” and other highly educated people. Also people in countries where they have right to participate in public opinion they are less likely to make their ideas count with a gun.

Clear evidence of mumbai attack (India ), 9/11 (USA ), serial bobms in UK show that there is hell lot of technical knowledge is required which by no standards can be met with uneducated terrorist . Below is the pie chart showing terrorist organization in various country, that will show that there is co-relation of education and terrorism

The question is if people support education as a tool for eradicating terrorism then why its growing ? Well may be we need a more concrete solution for it , take it for example we need to be more strict , more efficient law and order and most important we need to have a good and efficient political system.

To conclude I would say the only thing education has done is, that it has made people clever than before so they are now exploiting more that they use to do earlier, we need to change the beat rather than trying to improve the antiquated rhyme.

Education can be viewed in other angles too.Gaining mere bookish knowledge, aiming for certificates and medals is not the only education. If thought on right track it can make u wise .Contrary..........it can lead to disaster when goaded with negative vibes. It all depends on how we want to take it as.’All wise men are not literates and all literates are not wise’

Terrorism is spread by no one but few brain washed people who think that their religion is ultimate thing on the earth and anyone who does not follow it is a traitor and should be killed.

This mindset has to be killed somehow.

If we replace the word education with positive education, then it might help.

You surely have a point here. Positive education which does not teach hatred and also to mind their own business

The fact that the masterminds are well educated should come as no surprise.

Their henchmen, flunkies, troops, grunts, stool pigeons, martyrs, what ever you want to call them are less so.

When you say educated, do you mean a real education, or a religious education?
