Mr.President - A hope or a Failure?

With Barrack Obama sworn as new President of America, the world has a new hope of new Politically more stable and economically more stronger world, no doubt his new inning was welcomed by huge appreciation not only by Americans but also by the world. An act of democracy where people choose best for themselves. With a promise not only to stabilize the economic condition but also to make it stronger, his recent oath taking ceremony according to me defies his promises.

With millions of dollar spent on his oath taking ceremony, accounting for his security, dress for his wife and her daughters, I guess such a waste of money should be criticized not appreciated. Under such acute economics pain this act of Obama suggests that he is only concerned for his political fame. More than 5000 thousands of armed men, air tight security by air force cost millions of money, this act by no standards is a news to be appreciated rather an act of condemnation.

Famous designer were appointed to design for his wife and daughters, on the other side of the fence with such great economics many Americans have lost their jobs and may be short of decent clothing.

With a huge promise of bowling out economic crisis certainly Mr. President may have started his inning in Pomp and show manner but his first over is very expensive. Only thing we can hope this time that he can be more economical in his later spells.

At $170 million.. this was the greatest amount of money spent on any inauguration in U.S. history. And considering the world economic situation, you would think they would have scaled back. One of Michelle’s outfits cost $1,200.00 If he can’t handle the budget of his inauguration how is he going to handle the countries budget. I can understand the need for security.. there are still some crazy people out there.. but everything else could have been less extravagant.

But guys, let us not forget what an Obama presidency meant,i think when it comes to security it was necessary that precaution be taken because nobody had ruled out the option of assassinating the first black US president, and remember that there has been a precedent.

Siddharth, he is just a president, however he is the first black president and there had already been threats against him. shamefully, racism in this country isn’t that far in our past. Off topic, ironically, it was the Democrats who were the racists (and many still are).

And yes, there probably was a need for added security, but that didn’t account for *all* the added expense, Duncan. Bush’s inauguration cost $42 million (still way too much). Obama’s was way more than double that.

This is sad, a country well educated cannot afford to show such an act, I guess still there are differences among whites and blacks, this is why this time Mr.President is greeted by blacks so well.I am sorry if this has hurt your feelings

I would say somebody somewhere saw an opportunity of being a white elephant. Money is the devil.

No hurt feelings, I am not black, but I abhor racism.  There are still some racists in this country, but it has never held anyone back any more than women are held back.  I think if you want something badly enough you will achieve it, black, female or whatever.  And unfortunately, many people did vote for Obama because he was black in spite of some troubling things about him.  I did not vote for him because he is way too liberal for my tastes, and even though he seemed as if he was becoming more centrist, only a few days in office and he is starting to prove what most of us feared.

That is the truth, you haven’t hurt me,he truth of the human heart is that it is always happy when it gets some relief,to me the response from blacks was not a sign of their differences,it was a sign of new hope, when one has expectation of better times to come, that shows that someone has been persevering and now there is every reason to stand out. If on that day the blacks would have blocked out the whites then i would agree with you that that was a sign of the big differences between the two. To be precise,if a person who dislikes you had a party and invited you,you would think twice before going there even if you were very hungry and there was plenty of food in the party, but if a person who is of your caliber (share same joy, sorrow and status) has a party, you would not think twice, you will go there with or without an invitation. I rest my case.
